Every creative project starts with a spark, and for this one, that spark came in neon! I’m thrilled to share Electric Sketch, a collaboration with the amazing team at Yellowpop, and my very first piece of neon art.
I've always wanted to work with neon art and researched whether I could for my final project in uni! Way back then it was unaffordable for me and I've yearned to design in this medium ever since.
So when Yellowpop came knocking I was chomping at the bit to work with them... and then seriously STUCK! I wanted to create EVERYTHING I had so many ideas and couldn't narrow it down and choose just one! Luckily they were patient with my back and forth-ing and waited for me to decide on the ONE.
If you've ever been to my studio you won't be surprised that I landed on a pencil; I have giant pencils all over that I made many moons ago as props for a photoshoot and have hoarded ever since, they bring me joy because pencils are my favourite tool for creation, the beginning of every idea!
So here is "Electric Sketch" not your average pencil but one that beams with light and shines in Pink Yellow and Blue - because I used as many colours as I could!! This pencil is all about the magic of making things, I hope you like it too! It's a limited edition of just 100 pieces so don't dawdle or should I say doodle for too long!
Working out how to translate a pencil into neon was such an exciting challenge. how much detail do you need? What shapes will still feel instantly recognisable? And of course, what colours to choose! In the end, I went for a playful palette (because how could I not?) with a big hit of bubblegum pink. When the finished piece arrived, I couldn’t wait to get it up on my studio wall. It’s now hanging above my door, reminding me that every creative journey begins with a simple line.
Collaborating with Yellowpop was an absolute joy — I love how they champion fun, creativity, and bold design. Seeing one of my favourite objects brought to life in this way was such a buzz, and I’d definitely love to explore more neon ideas in the future.
Electric Sketch is a limited edition of 100 pieces — if you’d like to see more, you can catch a little behind-the-scenes peek on my Instagram.
Thanks for following along, and here’s to the power of simple tools and bright ideas.
